The Murder of Cassie Jo Stoddart
In September 2006, Cassie Jo Stoddart was house sitting in Pocatello, Idaho when she was killed inside her aunt’s home. What began as a normal Friday night became a case involving recorded footage, references to horror films like Scream, and a plan to create a real life slasher style story. This episode tells the story step by step, respectfully and chronologically.
On September 22, 2006, in Pocatello, Idaho, sixteen year old Cassie Jo Stoddart agreed to house sit for her aunt and uncle. It was supposed to be a quiet Friday night. She invited friends over to watch a movie. By the end of the evening, everyone left.
Except Cassie.
Two days later, her family returned home and found her in the living room.
As investigators worked through the timeline, they uncovered something deeply disturbing. The people responsible had recorded themselves beforehand, referencing the horror movie Scream/Ghost face and discussing their desire to make their own slasher style movie. They spoke about becoming remembered. About creating something shocking.
