Macabre Mondays was conjured from Alejandra’s endless curiosity for the strange, the sinister, and the spooky. A designer and storyteller by trade — and a devoted student of mysteries both real and imagined — she isn’t an expert, just someone who can’t look away from the darker corners of the world.
She loved sharing what she learned — creepy documentaries, internet rabbit holes, chilling case files — with her husband, Tom, who would hear them for the first time over breakfast, during car rides, or whenever she couldn’t keep a story to herself.
Eventually, she had an idea: what if those reactions were recorded? What if her favorite true crime buddy (whether he liked it or not) became part of the storytelling?
Now, each week, Alejandra drags her husband Tom into the weird and the wicked. She’s the storyteller. He’s the first-time listener. Together, they dive headfirst into the eerie and the unknown.

Hi, I’m Alejandra — founder of Macabre Mondays, host of the show, and wearer of all hats: storyteller, researcher, scriptwriter, editor, and the one posting memes at midnight.
Before launching this podcast, I spent years leading creative work for brands like Disney, Mars Wrigley, and Ripley’s Believe It or Not. But storytelling was always my favorite part and this show lets me tell the creepiest stories in the weirdest, most wonderful way.
I’m not a true crime expert. I’m just obsessed with the eerie, the unexplained, and the unsolved. I started this podcast to share the stories I couldn’t stop talking about — first with my husband, and now with all of you.
Tom Bendel

I’m Tom — husband, listener-in-chief, and the guy nervously hearing these stories for the first time while hitting “record.” On our show, I represent the hesitant partners everywhere.
When we first started dating, Alejandra had this charming (terrifying) habit of queuing up a true crime doc or paranormal show right as I was trying to fall asleep. There were moments I wasn’t sure whether to be afraid… or comforted knowing she was prepared for a serial killer to break in.
I may not be deep into true crime or the paranormal, but that’s what makes this podcast work. My reactions are real, my questions are usually the ones you’re probably yelling at your speaker, and yes — I sleep a little less soundly because of it.
I began my career in marketing and SEO before transitioning into software development. I built our entire site and manage all the front-end and back-end coding. Basically, if you’re clicking through the site or streaming an episode — that’s my work humming behind the scenes. Oh, and I’m also the official “Tom’s Fun Facts” guy. I’m filled with weird, random trivia that somehow always ends up in every story Alejandra tells — whether she wants it there or not.
